SCPS News

The Spotsylvania County School Board approved search firm BWP and Associates, conducted stakeholder focus group meetings and community forums on April 16, 2024 and April 17, 2024, as part of the Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS) superintendent search process.

Approximately 225 individuals shared their feedback with BWP & Associates representatives Dr. Kevin Castner and Dr. E. Wayne Harris at the focus group meetings and community forums held last week.

Additionally, the stakeholder survey opened on April 15, 2024, within the first two days BWP & Associates received over 1,000 responses. As of April 22, 2024, a total of 2,068 surveys have been completed, of which approximately 250 have been submitted by SCPS students.

“We are excited with the responses so far,” said Dr. Lorita Daniels, Spotsylvania County School Board Chair. “The School Board has been very deliberate in making sure that all stakeholders - including students - are part of the superintendent search process,” continued Daniels.

The survey will remain open until April 28, 2024. It is available on the SCPS website in both English and Spanish. All parents/guardians, students, SCPS employees, and Spotsylvania County leaders and community members are encouraged to complete the survey.

BWP & Associates representatives Dr. Castner and Dr. Harris will provide an update on the search findings to the School Board at the Board’s meeting scheduled on April 25, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the School Board Office located at 8020 River Stone Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
