Spotsy Online: 100% Virtual Accelerated Learning for NEW Courses

Registration for the Spotsy Online Virtual Accelerated Learning Program will OPEN on November 12, 2025 and CLOSE on December 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Details will be shared with all students and parents in grades 9–12.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools now offers a 100% virtual option for students who excel in the classroom and want to accelerate or broaden their learning beyond their regular school schedule. This opportunity is available to enrolled 8th–12th grade students interested in taking a new high school credit course.

Please note:
Students may register for NEW courses only.
Repeat or recovery courses cannot be taken through this virtual program.
Coursework is completed outside of the regular school day.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools now offers a 100% virtual option for students who are successful in the classroom and are looking to accelerate or expand their learning in addition to their day-to-day coursework. This option is currently available to enrolled 8th-12th grade students looking to take a new credit course for high school credit.
Students can ONLY register for NEW courses and may not register for repeat courses through this 100% virtual learning experience. Coursework in these virtual courses is completed outside of the school day.

The Academic Awards Ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 18th, at 6pm, in the MHS Auditorium. Students will be recognized for having a GPA above a 3.5, being an AP Scholar, earning a perfect SOL score, nominated as an Outstanding Student by a teacher, and/or for their performance on the PSATs. All awards are based on performance during the 2024/25 school year. Students that will be receiving an award have been mailed an invitation. We look forward to celebrating these accomplishment with you.

Virginia Boys State

What is Boys State?

Boys State is an educational program for high school students founded by The American Legion where they learn about city, county, and state government by participating in a hands-on, week-long simulated government. Participants elect officials, write and pass bills, and hold mock court proceedings, with the program providing lessons on leadership, government structure, and citizenship.
Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students.

Who is eligible to participate in Boys State?
High school juniors that possess Outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their schools and community.
The applicant should exhibit an interest in the governmental process.
The applicant will have above average scholastic standing.
The prospective delegate and their parents must be residents of the state of Virginia.

You can also use code FUND4U for all-day online, Rapid Pick-Up, and delivery orders. In-cafe orders placed between 4–8pm count too. Starting Monday, November 3rd, FBLA will be selling paper purple flowers to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. This is a contest where the A1 class that raises the most amount of money will receive a donut party after the contest ends on November 20th. Flowers are $0.25/each cash and card payments will be accepted during all lunch shifts and in room 207. The fundraiser can also be support through the SchoolCash online payment portal.

Help FBLA support puppies! Now through January 30th, Ponax FBLA will be hosting a collection drive for Compassion Animal Rescue. The goal is to collect at least 100 items for the rescue. These items include: cleaning supplies such as lysol wipes, scented laundry pods, and dawn dish detergent, in addition to canned pumpkin and dog food, dog treats, leashes, collars, and more. See the poster outside room 207 for a complete list.

Congratulations to the following students for their recognition at this weekend's VHSL Multimedia Championships for their work in last year's school publications:


- Alleigh Sommers won first in the state for Candid Photography and second for Clubs and Organizations coverage
- Hannah Novick won first in the state for literary magazine cover art
- The 2024-25 Yearbook and Newspaper staffs earned a first place ranking
- The 2024-25 Literary Magazine staff earned a trophy class ranking, which is a state championship

We're especially excited to offer a shirt geared towards elementary levels this year, as previous designs focused on mental health themes & suicide awareness. We aim to have something for everyone! High School Diplomats HSD U.S. is a summer exchange program hosted on the grounds of the University of Virginia allowing American and Japanese students to live and interact with each other. Students from America are paired with roommates from Japan to learn about each other's country, culture, and life as they attend classes, compete in activities, and share ideas. Students may apply during the fall semester of their sophomore and junior years of high school. All materials, including teacher references, must be received by the application deadline in order for an application to be considered complete.
