General Information about Summer 26 Spotsy Online:
Spotsy Online 100% Virtual Accelerated Learning, SCPS Teachers will facilitate courses through Edgenuity.

Testing will occur during Summer School testing.

Registration will OPEN and information will be shared with 8-11 grade students and parents on Monday, April 13, 2026. Registration will CLOSE on Friday, May 6, 2026 at 4:00PM.


Counselors will serve as the the responsible party for:
-Approving or denying the enrollment request
-Counselor needs to communicate with the registrar that they need to enroll the student in summer school and add the “H” course they will be taking

Students will be permitted to take only one course during this session. Students wishing to take a second accelerated course will need to discuss options with their counselor and the Supervisor of Instructional Programs. This window for Spotsy Online is too small to accommodate 2 classes.

Massaponax High School’s annual Senior Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at 8:30 a.m. in the school auditorium.

All seniors and their families are invited to attend. Seniors who will be recognized during the ceremony will receive notification by mail by the first week of May.

Panther Productions-Film Club is excited to present the Spring Fling Film Thing on **Friday, April 17**. In partnership with FCCLA, we invite you to enjoy a film screening of "Gidget", a 1960s classic beach film about a fun-loving teenager discovering friendship, surfing, and summer adventure. Along with the movie, guests can enjoy concessions, raffle prizes, and baked goods for sale. Bring your friends and family to come support two great student organizations for a fun evening you will not want to miss! Showtime is at 5pm, in the Growl Plex theater here at MHS.

The 2026 SCPS Summer School will provide students a credit recovery course with teacher led instruction. Courses taken through this program will be considered repeat courses. Students may register for one credit recovery/repeat course for the summer. There is one session for the 2026 Summer School program.

The 2026 SCPS Summer School will be held at Riverbend High School from June 8 - June 25. Classes meet Monday-Thursday, from 8:30am - 2:30pm.

Registration begins April 1, 2026 and concludes June 4, 2026.

MHS FBLA will be selling student testing care packages that will be distributed to students during Pride Time the week before end of year, AP, and SOL testing, starting in April and May. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTICE FOR MARCH 16, 2026
Due to the anticipated inclement weather, Spotsylvania County Public Schools will be closed with asynchronous remote learning for students on Monday, March 16, 2026. 12-month employees report on time. All school and non-school activities, day and evening, are canceled.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION
SCPS will be providing meal bags at Chancellor High School from 10 a.m. to Noon on Monday, March 16th. All SCPS Students are eligible to receive one meal bag. It is not necessary for your child to be with you at the food distribution site; however, you will need to know your child's student ID or lunch number to pick up the meal bag.

UPDATE: IMPORTANT 2025-2026 INSTRUCTIONAL CALENDAR CHANGE
At the School Board Meeting on March 9, 2026, the School Board voted to add April 21, 2026, as a Teacher Work Day/Student Holiday due to the special election announcement on March 2, 2026. As a reminder, many of our schools are used as polling sites. The School Board made no other changes to the 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar. Friday, March 13, 2026, remains a Teacher Professional Learning Day/Student Holiday and the grading period remains unchanged.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools will open two hours late on Monday, February 23, 2026. No AM ECSE preschool classes, PM classes will begin on time. 12-month employees report to work on time. We are continuing to monitor conditions and will reassess in the morning.

You can dine in or place a to go order and a portion of the sales will be donated to the chapter to help pay for students to attend State and National Conventions as well as to cover the cost of FFA supplies

The school social work team is excited to share that our annual T-shirt fundraiser is live, with all proceeds going directly to Treasure House to support students and families in need. Attention Panthers!

Boys Tennis Tryouts will begin Monday, February 23rd from 2:30 PM – 4:15 PM, on the MHS tennis courts. Tryouts will run daily that week, so come prepared and ready to compete.

Make sure you have:

Athletic physical completed

Proper tennis attire and shoes

Water bottle

Counselors will begin scheduling students for the 2026-2027 school year on Wednesday, February 4th. Students will be called to the library during their English classes to meet with their counselors to discuss classes that they wish to take during the 2026-2027 school year.

All students were given a Course Selection Sheet last month that lists all of the classes that are availible to them. Please have your student bring this sheet when they come to the Library for scheduling. Students who have misplaced this form can pick up another copy in the Counseling Office before schoool, or during their lunck block

Governor's School students, as well as those students taking Dual Enrollment and asynchronous AP English classes, will be called to the Counseling Office by their counselors when availible.

The 4th Annual Intern Expo will occur on February 17th, at the Fredericksburg Convention Center. This is an amazing opportunity for students to connect with businesses and potentially secure an internship or part time employment and even earn scholarships. This is a free event open for Juniors and Seniors. Students will depart from MHS at 8:30 am and return by 11:30 am. Please stop by and see Mrs. Cook in Room 128 to pick up a permission slip.
