The Scholastic Art Awards is the nation's oldest art competition, with over 200,000 student entries submitted. Entries are judged by regions; in the Southeast Region, MHS won several awards. Congrats to Jennifer Martinez, who won an Honorable mention and a Silver Key for her work, Angela Nguyen with two honorable mentions and Aaron Schieble who won a silver key. Their teacher is Ms. Elizabeth Corbin. Congrats to Faye Chiang, who won a silver key. Congrats to Aaron Schieble, who received an honorable mention. Congrats to Nathaniel Gist, who received an honorable mention. Congrats to Liberty Young and Olivia Kukahiko, who both received Gold keys for their art. Their teacher is Ms. Delana Chandler.

Massaponax Talent Show
Put your talent on display for all to see! This year's talent show is January 27th at 7 pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 on Ticket Spicket. If you'd like to compete, please email Mr. Singer (ssinger@spotsylvania.k12.va.us) before the end of school on January 20th. First prize is a $50 Visa gift card, second prize is $25, and the audience will vote on their favorite for an additional $25 gift card.
Swim Team Fundraiser at Chipotle
This is an inclement weather update. All Spotsylvania County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, December 15. Schools will open two hours late. 12-month employees and essential employees are to report to work on time as safety permits. All other employees will report two hours late.

On November 18th, Marketing Students experienced New York City and were able to see marketing in action. Students learned about the role of the New York sports and entertainment industry and the operations of major venues such as MetLife Stadium, Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall.Students attended The Rockettes, Holiday Spectacular and Top of the Rock. Students closed out the day with a tour of MetLife Stadium.

Our Annual Academic Awards Ceremony will be held on November 15th and 18th in the auditorium. The class of 2023, 2024, and 2025 will be recognized for their academic achievement during the 2021-2022 school year. Students that are being recognized will receive an email invitation from the School Counseling Office. Below is the schedule for the ceremony. In celebration of DECA Week we are holding a "Can Do" food drive and hoping you can help us support our community. Here's how it works: 1. Request a bag to fill (see picture) and stop by 129 to get a bag. 2. Fill the bag with a minimum of 10 non-perishable items 3. Return filled bag to Room 129 (our hope is to collect all bags back and use them again in future drives) We will be collecting through Tuesday, November 15th, and delivering to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank on November 16. We have attached a picture from the food bank of the items in high demand, the items in the picture are all brands, but please feel free to purchase generic/store brands. We have 300 bags to fill!!
