ESSER Funding Overview

ESSER II: The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations ACT - Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER II) funds are emergency relief funds intended to address the impact that COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools in Virginia. ESSER II funds have specific-use requirements set by the federal government. Funding can be utilized to support a variety of programs and activities to address the learning gaps and other impacts due to COVID-19.

ESSER III: The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act -  Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) funds are intended to address the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on elementary and secondary schools in Virginia. As with ESSER I & II, ESSER III has specific use requirements set forth by the federal government. Funding can be utilized to support various programs and activities to address learning loss and gaps in instruction. These funds may be concurrently used with ESSER I & II.
