bhm jeopardy

To finish out the month of February and its celebration of Black History, the Alt Ed program played a game of Jeopardy that focused on the achievements of African Americans across history.

Organized by our wonderful Social Worker/Transition Specialist and her amazing intern, three teams of students competed against each other to earn the most points possible in the time allotted. They were able to phone a friend ( a teacher in the audience) in case they got stuck.

In true Alt Ed fashion, no one was excluded from participating. The audience members were able to earn rewards by recalling answers already given throughout the gameplay. The students and staff had a great time answering questions and cheering their students and peers on. It was a close game and each player was rewarded with a special gift bag of goodies for their hard work and participation.

Ms. Givens, one of the coordinators of the activity, shared her thoughts on the overall experience, stating "It was so fun to help organize this Jeopardy game for our students! Our teams were excited to play and studied hard to absorb the information in a very short time frame. It was so good to see the teams, as well as the audience members, interacting and participating in our game. Seeing the enthusiasm, engagement, and appreciation for history that these students showed makes the hard work and long hours worth it."

A big thank you to Dr. Melody Lewis and her intern Rionna Givens for putting together such an enriching and engaging activity! We look forward to next year's game!
