Spotsylvania County Public Schools News

The Spotsylvania County School Board will hold a work session meeting on Monday, April 15, 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. to discuss the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY 25) budget.

“While we were hoping for additional funding from the Board of Supervisors, we are grateful for their decision supporting a cost of living increase for our employees. Our commitment to our students and staff continue to remain a top priority as we finalize our FY 25 budget,” shared Dr. Lorita Daniels, Spotsylvania County School Board Chair.

The priorities for the Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS) FY 25 budget are:

·         Increasing salary for staff

·         Providing additional classroom, special education, and English Language Learners  (ELL) supports

·         Ensuring school facilities and equipment are maintained and updated

“We will continue to look at revenue sources and are hopeful that once the State budget is finalized we will receive additional funds to support our priorities,” said Daniels.

The Spotsylvania County School board plans to preliminarily approve the SCPS FY 25 Budget on April 15, 2024.

“The Spotsylvania County School Board looks forward to working with the Board of Supervisors to establish a funding formula memorandum of understanding that enables the School Board to better plan and create future budgets to ensure we are meeting the needs of students, planning for growth, and retaining and recruiting high-quality teachers,” continued Daniels.
