SPOTSYLVANIA HIGH SCHOOL CYBERSECURITY PROGRAM HONORED WITH STATEWIDE EXCELLENCE AWARD

Spotsylvania High School’s Cybersecurity Education Program, led by Kristi Rice, has been recognized with the Virginia Department of Education Region 3 Secondary CTE Exemplary Program Award, honoring its outstanding contributions to student career development.

The Cybersecurity program at Spotsylvania High School models excellence by equipping students with real-world skills through rigorous coursework, hands-on labs, and competitive cyber events. Students progress through three levels of coursework including Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Cybersecurity Operations, and Cybersecurity Operations, Advanced to gain industry certifications and career readiness. The program fosters teamwork and leadership, with students excelling in competitions like the Commonwealth Cyber Cup, national Capture the Flag events, and representing the United States in the Quad Cyber Challenge at the White House. Standout students have earned prestigious opportunities such as White House visits, cybersecurity apprenticeships, and high-ranking academic honors. Through initiatives like Cyber Knights and Girls Go Cyber, the program champions diversity and workforce development while preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

We are proud to celebrate Kristi Rice and the hardworking students of the SHS Cybersecurity Program for their dedication, innovation, and continued excellence!
