🏅 SCA Students of the Month! 🏅

If you haven’t already seen on the bulletin board outside the office, SCA is proud to introduce our Student of the Month program! Each month, we’ll recognize one student from each grade who demonstrates a strong work ethic, respect inside and outside the classroom, and a genuine desire to learn. These students go above and beyond, showing kindness without being asked.

While we were a little late and missed August, we are excited to announce the winners for the month of September! 🌟 Get ready to celebrate our standout Knights who have truly set the standard for success! This month's students of the month are:

  • The ninth grader winner is Max Power. One teacher said, “He leads by being a great example to others of what is expected in class. He embodies the traits of a KNIGHT very well and we are proud to have him in our class.”

  • The tenth grader winner is Layla Anderson. Another teacher said, “She always comes in with a bright smile and she is helpful to her classmates.”

  • The 11th grader winner is Mar Hammet. She is said to be a student who, “is the first to volunteer her time and efforts to arts-related activities. Not only are they ambitious, caring, and responsible, but Mar is faithful to her commitments and organized in achieving her goals.”

  • And last but not least, the 12th grader winner is Jaden Wickens. One teacher said, “I know I can rely on Jaden to do the reading required for class AND be able to articulate the themes and morals of the literature in discussion, and I've seen him helping students with difficult passages ‘out of the spotlight.’”

And those are the winners for September!! Often good deeds and strong work ethics are overlooked, so this is a way to recognize students that are deserving of a little spotlight.

TEACHERS! Now is your time to nominate a student for the month of October. There should be a form in your email, but if you lost the email, email Shantey or Mrs. Valasko, and we will get you squared away.

Important Reminder: Parking is a Privilege

Parking Passes are required if you plan on driving to school. Secure yours today!

Driving to school is a privilege. Two key expectations to maintain your privilege are that you are on time for school and that if you leave school it is after the proper procedures to sign out are followed. The following expectations were on the Parking Permit Agreement.

Rule #11 - Skipping school and/or giving another student a ride from campus when that student does not have permission to leave school will result in the suspension and/or revocation of parking privileges. It is the driver’s responsibility to determine if the student is authorized to leave school.

*** The following steps represent the disciplinary sequence for unexcused tardies that will apply to every student who has the privilege of parking on school grounds.

  • 1st unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for a minimum of two (2) days.

  • 2nd unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for a minimum of four (4) days.

  • 3rd unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for a minimum of two (2) weeks.

  • 4th unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for a minimum of one (1) month.

  • 5th unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for the remainder of the semester.

  • 6th unexcused tardy - Loss of driving privileges for the remainder of the school year

Important Reminder: Students in Good Standing

Students in Good Standing are able to attend Homecoming, Prom, and other school activities.

Student attendance counts for good standing.  To be in good standing, you must have less than 4 days absent a 9-weeks AND:

  • 1st Qtr = No more than 4 total absences for the school year

  • 2nd Qtr = No more than 8 total absences for the school year

  • 3rd Qtr = No more than 12 total absences for the school year

  • 4th Qtr = No more than 16 total absences for the school year

Less than 10 tardies to school or class per Nine Weeks.

  • Tardy Policy: 3 tardies = Lunch Detention, 4 tardies = Referral

Students may not have repeated incidents of the same or similar behavior in a quarter.

Students can earn back good standing by attending the after school attendance recovery program.

  • ONE (1) absence can be earned back by attending 2 (TWO) sessions. (Students cannot earn back OSS absences)

  • TWO (2) tardies can be earned back by attending 1 (ONE) session.

The After School Attendance Recovery Program will be run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

Students need to let their administrator know they’d like to attend recovery and have a ride promptly at 4:00 PM.
