Student of the Month

I am Isaiah Ward and I am a senior here at Massaponax High School. My parents are Eric and Sonya Ward and I have two younger sisters, a freshman and a sophomore, who both attend Massaponax as well. My mom is from New Jersey and my dad is from Maryland, but I have lived here in Fredericksburg for my whole life. I enjoy playing sports, video games, and hanging out with friends.

I have enjoyed my time at Massaponax. My favorite class that I have taken is Government, which I am currently taking and is taught by Mr. Decker. Throughout my academic career, I have been able to achieve a 4.13 GPA and honor roll through my first three years of high school. I also received an award for my achievements in my construction class, which I took last year as a junior. Along with academics, sports have been a big part of my high school experience. I played on the football and boy's lacrosse teams here at Massaponax. For football I was a four-year varsity player, becoming a two-way starter during my junior and senior seasons. After my senior season, I received recognition as an all-district honorable mention wide receiver and was awarded the Derrick Sears Award by my team. For lacrosse, I have been a starter through my first three seasons and plan to be a starter again this upcoming season on defense. Last season I was a second-team all-district defenseman and honorable mention all-area defenseman. I was also awarded defensive MVP by my team. As a result of my hard work, I have committed to playing men's lacrosse at Juniata College and studying to earn my undergraduate degree in exercise science. Then I plan on going to physical therapy school afterward to hopefully have a successful career as a physical therapist.

Outside of school, I volunteer weekly at my church, Crossroads Church, where I operate the camera for our online livestream and help with other things that need to be done. I'm also a part of the youth group at my church that meets every Sunday and typically one other time during the week. My time in high school has gone fast as I will be graduating this May but I have truly enjoyed it. I'd like to thank God, my family, friends, teachers, and coaches who have all helped me get to this point.
