Student of the Month

Hello! My name is Mikah Hackett and I’m a senior here at Massaponax. I just turned 18 on December 6th.  I am the son of Michael and Tiffany Hackett. I’m also the brother to Michael Jr (Mj) who’s a ponax alumnus, Malik (a freshman) and Tamiyah Hackett.

I must say that I’ve enjoyed my time here at Massaponax. Throughout high school I’ve soared in academics while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. Although academics are first I’m very active in my school and committed to serving my local community with hopes to reach the world. I’ve been the operations officer for Teen Enrichment. Teen Enrichment is a community organization that helps bridge the gap between high school and life after high school. We work with teens across various counties to include Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Stafford, King George and Caroline county. It’s our mission to build connections between our teens and mentors that we have in various career fields across the world. Everything teen enrichment does from weekly meetings to our big summits are a chance for our teens to gain community service. I’ve enjoyed being in this program the last 3 years. My life has been forever changed. Outside of Teen Enrichment I’m in various clubs to include the Student Council Association, Principal’s Advisory Committee, DECA, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Interact, Historian/ Public Relations of Senior Board, Ambassador and National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), and the President of the Black Student Union and Jesus Club. As you can see I have a pretty schedule where time management is key. My advice to any students is to get involved as much as possible. You don’t have to do everything I do, but getting involved makes your high school experience. I would do it all over again if I could because it flew by.

Outside of school I spend a significant amount of time in ministry at Zion Church of Fredericksburg where I am a licensed minister and I live by Philippians 4:13. I truly credit all my accomplishments and accolades to God.Once I graduate in May I plan to attend an HBCU. I plan to become a sports agent then a full time attorney. My goal before I leave this earth is to make an impact in the everyday lives of people.
