Student of the Month

Hello, my name is Calvin Kung. I have lived in Fredericksburg with my mom, dad, and two younger siblings for the past seventeen years. My mom's name is Jenny, and my father is Bobby. My two younger siblings' names are Julia and Tyler, with my sister being a sophomore at Massponax and my brother being an 8th grader at Battlefield Middle School. I enjoy spending time with friends online, hanging out with my siblings, and playing Lacrosse.

Throughout my high school career, I have achieved honor roll from my Freshman to Junior year, the AP Scholar award, and have had the honor to be a part of Massaponax's National Honor Society. One of my favorite classes that I have taken in high school was AP Chemistry. This class was challenging and fun to learn about, but the teacher was willing to work with each student if they ever asked him for help. Thank you, Mr. Hickman, for being patient and understanding me.

One of my proudest achievements throughout my high school career is my climb to Eagle Scout rank. Achieving Eagle Scout is the last rank in the Boy Scouts of America ranking system, one of the most respected and hard-earned awards among scouts. I finished my Eagle Scout project in August, with the projected completion date of becoming an Eagle Scout at the end of November.

After high school, I hope to attend Christopher Newport University in order to study and pursue a career in the medical field. I would like to eventually become a radiologist, as my goal ever since I was younger has been to help other people when I grow up. I want to thank my parents, siblings, friends, teachers, and coach, who have pushed me toward achieving this goal, believing in me wholeheartedly that I can indeed make a profound difference in the world.
