Student of the Month

I am Kyla Lockette, the daughter of Teresa Lockette. I am a senior at Massaponax High School and am involved in many extracurricular activities in and outside of school. In school, I am part of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Panther Pals, a spokesperson for our STAND Committee, and participate in the Girls Soccer program each year. I was Captain on the Varsity team last year and have been chosen Captain for the upcoming season as well. During my years at Massaponax High School, I received the 2021-2022 Fashion Marketing Student of the Year award and received the District Honorable Mention for the 2022-2023 soccer season. I have  participated in the Culinary Arts l and ll programs at the Spotsylvania Career and Technical Center, and that has been one of my most enjoyable classes I have taken during my high school career. One thing I am most proud of accomplishing during my high school career is how much I have stayed involved in the school. I have always enjoyed participating in clubs, sports, and school activities as being a part of different events and clubs in school helps to make a more fulfilling high school experience and allows me to enjoy my high school years while I still can!

Outside of school, I am a part of the Fredericksburg Football Club, a travel soccer league, where I have been playing for 3 years. I am also a soccer coach for the Fredericksburg Football Academy Club where I coach children between the ages of 6-8 the fundamentals of soccer.

After high school, I will be attending a four-year college to earn my bachelor’s degree in either Biology or Sports Management, and will also be playing soccer at the collegiate level.
