WELCOME TO MARCH LION NATION-
This month we celebrate National Nutrition Month, Women’s History Month, Music and Art in our Schools Month, and School Social Work Month! Be sure to tell Ms. Sally, thank you, for being an amazing school social worker for Lion Nation! We also look forward to celebrating all of our lions at the end of the month on March 26th starting at 5:00 pm for our Lion Nation Museum Night. All students will have artwork on display and a collection of their own personal writing from this school year to share with their families. We will also have a spring chorus and orff concert that evening! We have been working hard on writing as our schoolwide improvement goal, so come on out that night and celebrate our very own LHES lion authors!
MARCH MADNESS ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE-
We will be having a little March Madness fun with attendance in the weeks ahead!
Starting this week through the week after Spring Break, we will have a special March Madness based on daily average attendance of students and assigned the teacher of the class.
Week 1: Feb. 23-27 will be the "PLAY IN" week. All homerooms (PreK/SAM/K-5) will be vying for the top 32 spots headed into the bracket format. *Mrs. Monroe’s class was in the lead last week with the highest attendance average going into the bracket!
Week 2: March 2-6 - Top 32 compete in play-off style with the "winner" moving to the next round. Teams who move on will need to have the highest attendance!
Week 3: March 9-13: Top 16 teams compete, winner moves to the next round.
Week 4: March 16-20: Top 8 teams compete, winner moves to the next round.
Week 5: March 23-27: Top 4 teams compete, winners move to the next round.
Week 6: April 6-10: Top 2 teams compete in the Championship round
Brackets will be posted in the windows along the gym hallway. Let’s go, Lion Nation! Just be here everyday to help your class win!

ELL FAMILY STEM NIGHT-
The Office of Multilingual Learners will host ELL Family STEM Night - STEM Across the Globe, on Thursday, March 19th from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Chancellor High School. This event is designed for multilingual learners (English Language Learner students - ELLs) and their families. This event will feature hands-on STEM activities and opportunities to connect with ELL school staff. Gift bags will be provided to the first 50 ELL students in attendance. Spanish interpreters will be available. If interpretation is needed in another language, please contact Mrs. Alvarez at zalvarez@spotsylvania.k12.va.us by Friday, March 13th.

March 26th- Lion Nation Museum Night 5:00-6:00 pm. Come visit for a gallery tour of the halls to see student artwork on display! Visit classrooms to see student writing on display and stay for our Spring Chorus and Orff Concert at 6:00 pm.
March 30th- April 3rd- Spring Break. School is closed this week for all students.

BIENVENIDOS A MARCH LION NATION-
Este mes celebramos el Mes Nacional de la Nutrición, el Mes de la Historia de la Mujer, el Mes de la Música y el Arte en las Escuelas y el Mes del Trabajo Social Escolar. ¡Agradezcan a la Sra. Sally por ser una excelente trabajadora social escolar para la Nación de los Leones! También esperamos celebrar a todos nuestros leones a finales de mes, el 26 de marzo a partir de las 5:00 p. m., en nuestra Noche del Museo de la Nación de los Leones. Todos los estudiantes exhibirán sus obras de arte y una colección de sus escritos personales de este año escolar para compartir con sus familias. ¡También tendremos un coro de primavera y un concierto de Orff esa noche! Hemos estado trabajando arduamente en la escritura como nuestra meta de mejora para toda la escuela, así que vengan esa noche y celebren a nuestros autores leones de LHES.
RETO DE ASISTENCIA A MARCH MADNESS -
¡Nos divertiremos un poco con la Madness de marzo con la asistencia en las próximas semanas!
A partir de esta semana y hasta la semana posterior a las vacaciones de primavera, tendremos una March Madness especial basada en la asistencia promedio diaria de los estudiantes y el maestro asignado a la clase.
Semana 1: Del 23 al 27 de febrero será la semana de "PLAY IN". Todas las aulas (PreK/SAM/K-5) competirán por los 32 primeros puestos en el formato de llaves.*¡La clase de la Sra. Monroe estuvo a la cabeza la semana pasada con el promedio de asistencia más alto al ingresar al grupo!
Semana 2: Del 2 al 6 de marzo - Los 32 mejores compiten en eliminatorias y el ganador avanza a la siguiente ronda. ¡Los equipos que avancen deberán tener la mayor asistencia!
Semana 3: del 9 al 13 de marzo: los 16 mejores equipos compiten, el ganador pasa a la siguiente ronda.
Semana 4: 16 al 20 de marzo: Los 8 mejores equipos compiten, el ganador pasa a la siguiente ronda.
Semana 5: 23 al 27 de marzo: Los 4 mejores equipos compiten, los ganadores pasan a la siguiente ronda.
Semana 6: del 6 al 10 de abril: Los 2 mejores equipos compiten en la ronda del campeonato.

NOCHE STEM FAMILIAR ELL
La Oficina de Estudiantes Multilingües organizará la Noche STEM Familiar para Estudiantes de Inglés como Segundo Idioma (ELL) - STEM en el Mundo, el jueves 19 de marzo, de 18:00 a 20:00 h, en la Escuela Secundaria Chancellor. Este evento está diseñado para estudiantes multilingües (ELL) y sus familias. Contará con actividades prácticas de STEM y oportunidades para conectar con el personal de la escuela ELL. Se entregarán bolsas de regalo a los primeros 50 estudiantes ELL que asistan. Habrá intérpretes de español disponibles. Si necesita interpretación en otro idioma, comuníquese con la Sra. Álvarez a zalvarez@spotsylvania.k12.va.us antes del viernes 13 de marzo.

26 de marzo-Noche en el Museo de la Nación León, de 17:00 a 18:00 h. ¡Ven a visitarnos y disfruta de un recorrido por los pasillos para ver las obras de arte de los estudiantes! Visita las aulas para ver la obra de los estudiantes y quédate para nuestro Coro de Primavera y el Concierto Orff a las 18:00 h.
30 de marzo-3 de abril-Vacaciones de primavera. La escuela está cerrada esta semana para todos los estudiantes.
