FEBRUARY CELEBRATIONS-
February is full of celebrations at LHES. This month we are celebrating Black History Month, Heart Month, and Kindness Month! Our Lions will learn about famous African Americans, heart health, and practice lots of kindness. We look forward to a great month!

RISING 6TH GRADE NIGHT AT BATTLEFIELD MIDDLE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED-
Hello, Battlefield Middle School is excited to welcome our rising 6th graders here at Battlefield on February 24th at 6 pm. Students and their families will have an opportunity to tour our building and learn about what it will be like to be a 6th grader. Please arrive promptly at 6 pm; we will be meeting in our cafeteria. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS-
Here are some recent highlights about our school’s attendance!
-384 students missed 0 days in January
-Our attendance rate for the month was 93% (goal is 95% or higher)
-4th grade had the highest attendance for the month of Jan. with 94.7%
-The following classes had the most students with perfect attendance for their grade levels:
5th - McCotter
4th - Bryant
3rd - Bailey
2nd - Porter and Kingsford
1st - Kutt and Edwards
K - Raines
PK - Sciandra
*So far, 126 students are considered chronically absent (10 or more days at this point of the year) - currently that is 19%. Our school goal is to get this percentage down to 15% or under. Thank you for your help in getting your child to school regularly!
