CODE 3 Information
SCHOOL ISSUED DEVICE REMINDERS-
We want to remind our students and families that when using any school issued device whether at home or school, students must adhere to the appropriate use of technology agreement. Students should only use their school issued devices for school work and for accessing appropriate sites directly related to classwork. Our Lightspeed Alert System will alert us to any misuse of technology and we encourage parents to monitor their children when using the school issued devices online. Thank you for your cooperation and helping to keep our students safe when using technology.
WINTER WEATHER PREPARATIONS-
Dear LHES Families,
We wanted to reach out proactively to ensure we are fully prepared for any other school closures. Because the cleanup from this winter storm remains unpredictable, we want to be proactive, as this weather event has caused disruptions for several days. Please note: At this time, there are no determined school cancellations.
Our primary goal is to keep our students engaged in learning. In the event that a Code 3 – Remote Learning Day is called, please note the following plan for our K–5 students:
Take-Home Resources: Students will be sent home with a choiceboard/learning menu and activities today. These are designed to keep students engaged and practicing their skills even if power or internet access is intermittent. Students in gr. 2-5 WILL bring home devices and power cords. Students in K-1 will NOT bring devices home.
Teacher Availability on Code 3 Days: Teachers will host 2 Virtual Office Hours during the school day, one in the morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and one in the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. This is a dedicated time for students to check in, ask questions about their work, or simply stay connected with their classroom community.
We understand that every household has different access to technology. To make reaching us as easy as possible, you can connect via:
Google Meet: Use the digital link provided by your student’s homeroom teacher.Look for a communication from your child’s teacher with the link.
Phone Dial-In: If you do not have internet access, you can call the dedicated conference number from the google meet to speak with the teacher during office hours.
Any decision regarding a change to the school schedule will be communicated through our standard notification system, the school website, and local news outlets.

SCPS Code 3 Overview
Announcement: “All schools are closed. Remote learning day for students. Code 3 - 12-month employees (Code 0, 1, or 2)”
Remote learning day for students (Synchronous and/or Asynchronous)
All schools are closed - All school and non-school activities, day and evening, are canceled
Teachers are required to provide remote learning opportunities (Synchronous and/or Asynchronous)
Teacher office hours will be offered through a reliable internet connection
All 12-month employees code will be determined by weather conditions (Code 0, 1, or 2)
It is important to note that Code 3 days will be considered a regular school day. Assignments can be graded and students will be able to use this time to catch up on any missing assignments. We understand that internet access may be limited in some areas of our district. To ensure students can complete remote learning, teachers will provide work that students can complete independently or with minimal parental support. Specific information regarding remote learning assignments and office hours will be shared by each teacher.

Reunión de Google:Utilice el enlace digital proporcionado por el maestro de aula de su estudiante. Busque una comunicación del maestro de su hijo con el enlace.
Llamada telefónica:Si no tiene acceso a Internet, puede llamar al número de conferencia dedicado desde Google Meet para hablar con el maestro durante el horario de oficina.

Jornada de aprendizaje remoto para estudiantes (Sincrónico y/o Asincrónico)
Todas las escuelas están cerradas - Todas las actividades escolares y no escolares, diurnas y nocturnas, están canceladas.
Se requiere que los maestros brinden oportunidades de aprendizaje remoto(Sincrónico y/o Asincrónico)
Las horas de oficina para profesores se ofrecerán a través de una conexión a Internet confiable.
