IMPACT AID FORMS ARE DUE-
Our annual Impact Aid Forms are due by October 24th. We need all families to fill out a form for each child, sign, and return to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. This form is important for federal funding for our school division and we need one filled out for each student. Thank you for your cooperation!
SCHOOL DIRECTORY SIGN UP-
We are working to create the LHES School Directory for our 25-25 school year. If you would like to make your information available to other LHES parents, please fill out the information in the link below. Many people ask for information to facilitate social connections outside of school, coordinate homework/class tasks, prepare for school events, and build our community. A directory will be created from the entries provided and shared only with those parents/guardians within the directory. Click here.
BOOK FAIR CONTINUES NEXT WEEK-
The book fair will run from October 24th to the 31st. Mr. Kerns will be sending out information to classes so be on the lookout! Additionally, if you would like to volunteer to make our book fair a success, please reach out to Mr. Kerns at mvkerns@spotsylvania.k12.va.us. We would love your help to make the process run smoothly!
HOLIDAY CARDS FOR OUR MILITARY-
There are over 2000 marines and sailors who are living in the barracks at Camp Schwab which is a military base in Okinawa. We would love to spread some holiday cheer to military members stationed overseas by sending them handmade holiday cards. Cards should only be signed with first names (no last names or personal identifying information) and should be returned to school by October 30th in order for them to arrive in time for the barracks to be covered in holiday joy for the season. Thank you so much for supporting our mission as a purple star school as we bring cheer to many military members who are stationed overseas!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS-
Congratulations to our 5th graders again for having the best overall grade level attendance for the month of September! Regular school attendance is essential to academic success! We encourage families to set regular routines for getting students to school on time each day and checking backpacks for safety. Thank you for your support!

HERE COMES THE BUS APP-
The Here Comes the Bus parent app for school bus tracking will be reactivated on Wednesday, August 6th. Until that day, parents will not be able to create a new account or add a new student. If parents have any questions, please visit the Transportation section of the SCPS website, where they can access the Here Comes the Bus support site.
DRILLS-
Our school practices safety drills each year in order to train students and staff on emergency procedures. We will be practicing fire drills, severe weather drills, and lockdown/intruder drills several times within the first 20 days of school and then continuously throughout the year.

LOS FORMULARIOS DE AYUDA DE IMPACTO DEBEN ENTREGARSE
Nuestros Formularios anuales de Ayuda de Impacto deben entregarse antes del 24 de octubre. Necesitamos que todas las familias llenen un formulario por cada niño, lo firmen y lo devuelvan al maestro de su hijo lo antes posible. Este formulario es importante para obtener fondos federales para nuestra división escolar y necesitamos que cada estudiante complete uno. ¡Gracias por su cooperación!
INSCRÍBASE EN EL DIRECTORIO ESCOLAR

TARJETAS DE FIESTAS PARA NUESTROS MILITARES
Más de 2000 infantes de marina y marineros viven en los barracones del Campamento Schwab, una base militar en Okinawa. Nos encantaría compartir la alegría navideña con los militares destinados en el extranjero enviándoles tarjetas navideñas hechas a mano. Las tarjetas deben estar firmadas únicamente con el nombre (sin apellidos ni información personal) y deben devolverse a la escuela antes del 30 de octubre para que lleguen a tiempo y los barracones se llenen de alegría navideña. ¡Muchas gracias por apoyar nuestra misión como escuela estrella púrpura, ya que llevamos alegría a muchos militares destinados en el extranjero!

¡AQUÍ VIENE LA APLICACIÓN DEL AUTOBÚS!
La aplicación para padres "Here Comes the Bus" para el seguimiento del autobús escolar se reactivará el miércoles 6 de agosto. Hasta esa fecha, los padres no podrán crear una nueva cuenta ni agregar nuevos estudiantes. TALADROS-
Nuestra escuela practica simulacros de seguridad cada año para capacitar a estudiantes y personal sobre procedimientos de emergencia. Practicaremos simulacros de incendio, de clima severo y de encierro/intrusión varias veces durante los primeros 20 días de clases y, posteriormente, de forma continua durante todo el año.
