On June 18, 2025, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrated outstanding local educators at their inaugural Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, recognizing those whose passion, innovation, and leadership are shaping our future generations. Educators from the Fredericksburg region were nominated by community members and fellow educators and the awards review panel selected the winners through a blind review process to ensure impartiality.
“We are extremely proud of our educators and leaders,” shared Spotsylvania County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Clint Mitchell. “The work that they do goes beyond the classroom – it fosters a love for learning and creates pathways to excellence.”
Spotsylvania County Public Schools’ teachers and leaders received a total of six awards in the five of the eight award categories to include the following:
Rising Star Award
Recognizing early-career educators already making extraordinary contributions in their classrooms and communities.
Christine Harper, Teacher, Spotsylvania Career and Technical Center
Ms. Harper teaches healthcare technology with hands-on relevance and builds strong community partnerships, preparing students for high-demand careers.
Innovative Classroom Award
Celebrating educators who are transforming the learning experience through creativity, technology, and real-world relevance.
Corey Williams, Teacher, Riverbend High School
Mr. Williams leads cybersecurity instruction with gamified learning, virtual labs, and differentiated strategies that connect students to cutting-edge careers.
Excellence in Leadership Award
These honorees exemplify strategic, student-centered leadership that drives school success, fosters inclusive cultures, and inspires lasting change.
Reitha Abed, Principal, Spotsylvania Career and Technical Center
Mr. Abed’s dynamic leadership has expanded access to career and technical education, aligning programs with real-world workforce needs and creating pathways for student internships and employment through strategic community partnerships.Allen J. These educators have made exceptional contributions to student success through innovative instruction, mentorship, and school-wide leadership.
Amanda Armentani, Teacher, Post Oak Middle School
Ms. Armentani’s interdisciplinary approach and leadership in the Rising Scholars program uplifts gifted students and empowers learners from underrepresented backgrounds.
