All Mustang students, staff and families are welcomed to join us as we enjoy music, food, arts and crafts, traditional clothing, games and more!
We would love for you to share your culture and customs with us at this FREE event. Permission slips are available now at Nurse Tucker’s office. So start thinking about ways that we can celebrate your culture or country of origin.
Make-Up / Retake Picture Day
Make-Up / Retake day for fall pictures will be Thursday, October 24th. If you bought pictures and would like them retaken, you must return the original pictures. The photography company will retake pictures only for students who bought pictures and are returning the original pictures… or of course if your student was absent on picture day.

CMS Debate Team
Debate practice will be held on Wednesday (October 23rd) after school until 4pm. The first debate tournament will be Saturday, October 25th, at Battlefield Middle School. Participants, please be there by 8:20am.
CMS Spirit Wear: CMS spirit wear is now available! We have some additional options this year, and lower prices as well! Orders are preorder only and are due by October 25th.
Girls Soccer Team End-of-Season Party
The CMS girls soccer team will be having their end-of-season party on Thursday, 10-24-24, after school, until 4:30pm. Team members should have a ride home at 4:30.
CMS Knit/Crochet Club:
The first meeting of the year for the CMS Knit/Crochet club will be Tuesday, October 22nd, at 7am. Please see Mrs. Winter (room 118) for details.
Canned/Boxed Food Drive:
CMS NJS is holding a
Canned and Boxed Item Food Drive
from 10-16-24 to 10-31-24. The homeroom that collects the most canned/boxed food items will win a sweet treat. Thank you in advance for your donations to help feed local families.

WHERE: Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA 23220
WHY: Chancellor Middle School is committed to offering learning opportunities to all students that bring about awareness of our surrounding communities, build academic skills, and make meaningful memories as students share new experiences outside of the classroom. This trip supports our studies in World History. (SOL WHI.3/4/5)

Your child received the permission slip from their History Teacher. In addition, the permission form with detailed information will be emailed to all 8th grade parents.

*Any 8th grader that receives a consequence of ISS or OSS between now and the day of the field trip will not be allowed to go on the field trip.
CMS Annual Veterans Day Breakfast: CMS Annual Veterans Day Breakfast is on Friday, November 8th, at 8:45am. Students will be bringing home invitations/RSVP forms this week.
If your student would like to invite a veteran in their life to join them for breakfast, please return the form to Ms. Britt in room 217. Please return this to Mrs. Britt in room 217 by November 1st.
4E Education Expo: Thursday, November 7th, at Chancellor High School
The 4E Expo is a showcase of SCPS middle and high school instructional programs, with a specific focus on how our programs prepare our students for the 4 E’s.
Enrolled: Upon graduation, students will pursue post-secondary education at a two year community college, a four year university, or a trade school.
Employed: Upon graduation, students will gain meaningful employment in a field that is a career interest of the student.
Enlisted: Upon graduation, students will enlist in a branch of the U.S. Military, to include the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Space Force.
Engaged: Upon graduation, students will have the life skills necessary to be active members of their community.
Please mark your calendars! Middle school is not too early for students to start thinking about their futures.
AttenDANCE
The first AttenDANCE of the school year will be Friday, December 13, from 3-5pm. Students who miss five days or less between 9-3-24 and the date of the dance will be invited.
CMS Athletics:
Football: Will play on Monday, October 21st, at Battlefield Middle School and Thursday, October 24th, at Chancellor Middle School. The 5th quarter will start at 3:45pm.
Girls Volleyball: Tryouts will end on October 22nd. Tryouts and practices are from 3-5pm. Girls volleyball is available for grades 6-8.

Tickets will also be made available for sale at the door, just like in prior years. Regular season tickets cost $3 and playoffs $5.
Parents, if your student wants to attend any of the home after school sports games, you must provide your student with a signed and dated permission note to stay after school. Phone calls or text messages are not permitted nor sufficient means for permission to stay after school.
Tryouts/practices are Monday-Friday. The expectation is for all participants to be present and on time for all tryout dates and practices. Students are required to bring appropriate attire. All participants must be picked up by a parent or guardian no later than 5:15PM.
Requirements: Students must have the 4 page athletic physical forms completed and turned into the school's nurse, Mrs. Tucker. In addition, all students and parents must complete the Online Concussion training and the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training. Students must also adhere to the Spotsylvania Code of Conduct and must maintain passing grades in all subjects in order to try out and maintain eligibility throughout the sports season.
