We hope everyone had a great weekend! We have five full days of school this week.
Mandatory 7th grade Vaccines
All Spotsylvania County Public School students entering the 7th grade are required to provide proof of immunization for Meningitis (MCV4), TDaP and HPV (optional) vaccines. Students who have provided a signed, notarized original copy of the Religious Exemption form or a Medical Exemption provided by a licensed healthcare provider, are not required to receive the immunizations.
Students who have not received the vaccines or have not provided official exemptions by the first day of school will not be allowed to attend classes. Please do not send your student to school until they have received the required vaccines. Doctor's offices do not send records to schools without specific consent from the parents. It is the parent's responsibility to make sure that the school medical records are current. Parents who wish to confirm with the school nurse that their student's immunization records have been received may email me at the address listed below. You may also contact me by phone at 540-786-8099. Please leave a detailed message. I return to the school clinic on July 29th and will check the messages then.
Parents may drop off proof of immunization at the school office Monday through Thursday or email a copy directly to me. Primary Care facilities, area Health Department offices (Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Fredericksburg and Caroline County), Local pharmacies, Urgent Care facilities and your family doctor may have supply on hand.
Thank you,
Nurse Tucker

Upcoming Lock-Down Drill: In Virginia, law states that we must inform our community in advance of any planned lock-down drills. CMS will be conducting a lock-down drill on Thursday, August 22nd. If you or your student happen to notice greater police presence than normal on that day, this is likely the reason.
Student Devices and Chargers: Please make sure your student brings their SCPS device and charger each day to school. Their device should be charged each evening, and the charger should also be brought to school for use throughout the day. Please label the device lid and charger with first and last name. It may be as simple as a piece of tape with the student name written on it.

Cell Phones: The CMS cell phone rules will be no different than they were last year and years prior. Students are allowed to bring a cell phone to school, but it must remain off and in their backpack throughout the duration of the school day. Students who break these rules will have their cell phone confiscated and returned to them at the end of the day. Students who are repeated offenders will have their phone confiscated and kept in the office for parent to pick-up. Continued offenses after that will lead to further disciplinary consequences.
