What college did you attend?
I am a doctoral student at Liberty University. I received my Educational Specialist Degree from Old Dominion University in Pre-K-12 Educational Administration and Supervision and my Master’s Degree in Education at Regent University. I also received my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from Norfolk State University.

What is your teaching experience?
Before administration, I was a PALS Paraprofessional, Kindergarten, second, and third-grade classroom teacher, and an Academic Coach for grades K-5.

What is your experience as an administrator?
I have served as an assistant principal in Franklin City Public Schools for two years and five years in middle school in Newport News Public Schools. I was the proud and passionate Principal of Mary L. Passage Middle School for five years. This will be my first year as the proud and passionate Principal at Wilderness Elementary, home of the wildcats!

What is your favorite aspect of school?
My favorite part of school is seeing students highly engaged in their lessons. I also enjoy seeing students lead and having conversations about their progress. I am extremely passionate about meeting students' needs through various teaching approaches. I believe that all students can learn; therefore, we must adapt to their learning styles to ensure they are successful.

What are some of your hobbies?
My favorite sport is volleyball, which I played in high school and college. I also enjoy watching football. My favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Getting to know others is also something I love to do.

Tell us about your family.
Spending time with my family is very important to me. My husband is retired from the Navy and gets to travel the world as an instructor. He’s very supportive. My daughter is a graduate student and will soon be a Mental Health Counselor, and my son works for Amazon. Both my twin brother and mother are very supportive of me.

I’m grateful to be at Wilderness Elementary and look forward to learning more in Spotsy!

What is your favorite aspect of school?
My favorite aspect of school is interacting with all the students, staff, and families throughout each day. I enjoy seeing students learn and fulfill their potential inside and outside the classroom.
