Library News & Information

Cafe Book Club
Seventh and eighth-grade students are invited to join Cafe Book Club, where they can pick from the latest and hottest books for teenagers! The club meets during lunchtime and is conducted with a librarian from the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. You will receive more information when you visit the library with your English class.

MS6 Book Club
This is a book club for just 6th graders! We will meet twice a month to do activities and discuss selected book titles. You will receive more information when you visit the library with your English class.

Virginia Reader’s Choice
Each year, 10 books, for each level, are nominated for students in Virginia to read. A student must read at least 4 of the 10 books to participate.  Voting takes place in mid-April, and the winning book is selected by popular vote of participating students.  You will receive more information when you visit the library with your English class.

Frequently Asked Questions

When may a student come to the library?
Students come to the library by scheduled class visits once a month with their English teacher, but students may come on their own at any time as long as they have permission from their teacher.

How do I find out which books I have checked out?
Go to Destiny Discover and log in with the same information as a school computer. Once in, click on 'My Stuff' at the top of the page.

How many books may a student check out, and for how long?
Students may check out 2 books and, if needed, 3.  Books may be checked out for 3 weeks.

How do I place a hold on Destiny?
First, log into Destiny Discover using your school username and password (the same way you log into a computer at school).  Use the search bar to find the book you wish to read.  When a picture of the book appears, click “Hold” in the bottom left-hand corner.

How do I check out an eBook?
We use the Sora app to access eBooks and audiobooks from Spotsylvania County Public Schools and the Central Rappahannock Regional Library.  To get to Sora, click the link on Thornburg's Destiny Discover page or access it on Google Waffle.  If you haven't set up your Sora account yet, you will do so when your English class visits the library.
