Mr. Harold Pellegreen

Mr. Harold Pellegreen

Welcome to Post Oak Middle School. I am thrilled to serve as the Principal of the school and continue to serve our students and community. Before joining Post Oak, I was a Principal in Arlington and Caroline Counties. I was also an Assistant Principal in Orange County and taught science at Courtland and Massaponax High Schools. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree from California University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. I proudly served our country in four years of active duty with the United States Army. I am originally from Southwestern Pennsylvania and have been a Spotsylvania resident for 26 years. My wife is a music teacher with Spotsylvania Schools, and my children graduated from Riverbend High School.

Our mission here at Post Oak Middle School is to equip all of our Patriots with the essential 21st Century Skills to prepare them for a smooth transition to high school and to be successful in their future endeavors. Students will be challenged daily and engaged with differentiated hands-on learning to meet their individual learning needs. Post Oak Middle School’s Core Values align with Virginia’s 5 C’s – Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, and Citizenship. Our staff will partner with our school community to provide our students with learning opportunities that prepare them for their futures in alignment with the Profile of a Virginia Graduate.

A successful school community requires communication and collaboration among students, teachers, staff, and parents. I encourage our families to participate actively here at Post Oak Middle School. Please take time to join the Post Oak PTO and volunteer to assist within the school community. I look forward to working with each of you this school year.

I became the Post Oak Middle School Assistant Principal in 2022. I began my career with Spotsylvania County Public Schools in 2002 as a Health and Physical Education teacher at John J. Wright Middle School and moved with the rest of the JJW staff to Post Oak when it opened in 2006. I have not only served as a Health and PE teacher but have also coached several sports at the middle school, high school, and college levels and served as the athletic director at Post Oak for 15 years.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science from Bridgewater College, a master's degree in Sport Psychology from Capella University, and a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Mary Washington.

I am excited to continue working with the Post Oak community as the Assistant Principal and am eager to promote social and emotional learning, personal and academic growth, and literacy.  I am committed to hard work and encourage all students to set goals and strive for their personal best.

Ms. Jeanne Koch

Ms. Jeanne Koch - Administrative Intern

I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Post Oak Middle School as your Administrative Intern.  Last year, I served as the ITRT or “Tech Coach” at POMS and Spotsylvania Middle School. With over 30 years of experience in PreK to 8, I have been fortunate to work with children of varied ages and stages. I attended James Madison University for my undergraduate degree and received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.  My Master’s degree was completed at Virginia Commonwealth University in Educational Leadership.

My husband is also a teacher in Spotsylvania County and the director of bands at Massaponax. Both my sons graduated from Massaponax as well.  As you can see, we are Spotsy Proud!

I look forward to working alongside parents and students to create the best middle school experience possible. Through communication and collaboration, we can build the necessary support systems for our students to prepare for their future.

Dr. Stephen Tate

Dr. Stephen Tate - Instructional Coordinator

I am honored to serve the Post Oak Middle School community as the Instructional Coordinator. I have worked in various roles in Spotsylvania County Public Schools for 30 years. In addition to teaching elementary, middle, and high school, I have worked with special education, gifted education, and career and technical education. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech in 1991 and my Master of Arts in Leadership from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School in 2012. From there, after investing several years researching technology-based programs of study participation within underserved populations, I earned both my Specialist of Education and Doctor of Education degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University.

My wife is also a teacher. We live on a small farm near Post Oak Middle School, where we raise goats and chickens now that our three children have moved on to begin their own families. All three of our children are married, and we also have three granddaughters.

It is a source of great joy to work with the amazing faculty and students at Post Oak Middle School, and my goal is to always help teachers with instruction that focuses on communication, critical and creative thinking, citizenship, and collaboration.
