Dr. Wright calls the Fredericksburg area his home.  He grew up in a military household but landed in Spotsylvania County during high school.  He is honored to serve in his eighth year as the principal at FMS.  This will be his 18th year as an administrator, six of which were spent as an assistant principal and administrative intern at Riverbend High School, four years as an assistant principal at Chancellor Middle School, and one year as an assistant principal at King George Middle School.  He earned his Bachelor's degree from Liberty University in Biology and Master’s and Doctorate (Ed.D) degrees from VCU in Educational Leadership.  His wife and five daughters reside in Spotsylvania County, and four attend Spotsylvania County Public Schools.

As an educational leader, he prides himself in developing relationships.  He values his relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.  He understands that before students care about what we teach, they need to know how much we care.  Building relationships is a key to meaningful learning.   As an educational leader, he talks with students about making good decisions and what good choices look like in the classroom, halls, and school grounds to point them to a successful future in high school and beyond. He believes that great leaders utilize the collective power of a team and are committed to creating a shared vision around a set of core beliefs created by the school community.  He looks forward to continuing his work with the community at Freedom Middle.
