Nick Kennedy

Principal

Greetings Cardinals!

My name is Nick Kennedy, and I am proud to be the principal here at Courthouse Road. As principal, my primary goal is to ensure that every student at Courthouse Road receives the best possible education and experiences personal growth in a safe and supportive environment. I believe in fostering a school culture that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.

I grew up in a small Pennsylvania town just outside of Scranton. I attended Penn State University, where I met my wife, and we moved to the Fredericksburg area in 2011. I received my Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Mary Washington. I avidly enjoy the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Phillies, and Penn State athletics.

I bring with me 14 years of experience in education, serving in various capacities in 4 different schools at the elementary and middle school levels. My educational philosophy centers on collaboration, open communication, and the belief that each student is unique with individual strengths and needs. I am dedicated to working closely with teachers, staff, students, and parents to build upon the already outstanding reputation of Courthouse Road. Please reach out to me if you feel I could help you in any way regarding your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Nick Kennedy

Assistant Principal

Hello Cardinal Families,

I am so happy to have the opportunity to be the Assistant Principal here at Courthouse Road.  Many of you know me as M&M and have seen my fabulous dancing skills during morning drop-off.

While at Courthouse, I taught our 4th-grade team, and I completed my leadership certificate at Mary Washington.

Before coming to Courthouse, I worked at Wilderness Elementary for 11 years as a kindergarten, 4th, and 5th grade teacher. Before that, I spent little time teaching kindergarten as a Lee Hill Lion.

I am a native New Yorker and finished my undergraduate degree in Cortland, NY, home of the Cortland Apple. I was a military spouse and traveled around the country for a time.  While at Fort Knox, I received my graduate degree from Western Kentucky!  Go, Wildcats!

My travels have allowed me to be a reading teacher, a long-term music substitute, a preschool teacher, and a director of Head Start. Out of all of my travels, I am happy I have landed here, with all of you, as a Cardinal! Together, we go the extra mile and do what is right in our hearts.
