Serving as Assistant Principal at Chancellor Middle School is a tremendous honor.  Before this role, I served as a teacher at Chancellor Middle School for eight years and at Thornburg Middle School for two years. Aside from teaching 7th grade Civics and Economics, during my teaching career, I also fulfilled the roles of Grade Level Chair, Social Studies Department Chair, and Athletic Director.  I was born and raised in Alpena, Michigan, and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  I received a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Mary Washington.  Outside of work, my hobbies and interests include government and politics, history and other non-fiction reading, golfing, being outdoors, and exploring the historical sites our great area and Commonwealth has to offer.  I’m also an avid sports fan, with college football as my favorite.  I love working at Chancellor Middle School.  We have a school full of great people- students and staff alike.  Our students have limitless capabilities, and I have been very blessed to work with them and to be able to continue to work with them in an administrative capacity.

Ms. Jessica Mereles, Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to return to Chancellor Middle School as Assistant Principal and serve our school community. Prior to this role, I spent ten years as a teacher at Chancellor Middle School. Afterward, I transitioned to a division-level position, supporting Spotsylvania’s English as a Second Language (ESOL) program as the K-12 EL School and Learning Support Specialist. I later served as the Coordinator of Secondary ESOL for Stafford County Schools.

I am a career switcher to education. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice from UVA-Wise and a Master of Science in Security Management. My transition into education included completing my licensure through the Educate VA Career Switcher program and earning my administration endorsement from Longwood University.

Outside of work, I am a wife and mother who loves spending quality time with my family and making lasting memories. When I'm not with them, you can find me reading, going for a walk, or attending church. Chancellor Middle School feels like home to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return and serve the students, families, and staff once again.
