Dr. Carol E. Flenard

Carol E. Flenard, Deputy Superintendent & Chief Academic Officer - Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Penn State University in 1994, Dr. Flenard taught kindergarten and second grade at Lee Hill Elementary in Spotsylvania County Public Schools. While teaching, she earned her Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision in 2001 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Subsequently, Dr. Flenard was named Assistant Principal and then Principal of Wilderness Elementary. After nine years of service in school-based leadership, Dr. Flenard became the Director of Elementary Education and then Executive Director of Instruction.  After her brief tenure in both roles, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and successfully led her department from 2012-2019. During this time, Dr. Flenard earned her Doctor of Education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Currently, Dr. Flenard serves as Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer. As a division leader, she is committed to ensuring all students access quality instruction that will give them a solid foundation in preparation for their futures.
