Lions in the Loop

loop                   August 16, 2019

We are excited that OUR Lions are getting settled in with routines and procedures for the new school year!  Remember, student drop off and bus unloading begins at 8:25 am.  The tardy bell rings at 8:45 am.  Dismissal time is 3:30 pm.  Please make sure your child’s teacher knows how your child will arrive and depart school each day.  ***For the safety of all students, we require a written note, email, or fax if your child will have transportation changes.  Please send a written note to your child’s teacher and inform the office before 3:00 pm.

As a reminder, student bus unloading takes place in our front bus loop.  Parents using curbside drop off at our atrium entrance need to follow the flow of traffic through the loop.  Our staff at curbside will direct students into the building.  Parents who wish to walk students inside for drop off need to park in the parking lot and enter through the main entrance by the bus loop and check in with the office to show proper ID.  We encourage parents to help us foster independence in our students in finding their classrooms in the morning.  Our staff members are positioned throughout the school to assist students in getting to class.  We encourage parents to allow our staff to assist students in walking to their classrooms beginning next week.

If you have transportation changes for your child, please advise the office in writing before 3:00pm each day.  Dismissal to buses begins in the bus loop at 3:30.  Parents picking up their children on a daily basis are encouraged to use curbside and can obtain car tags and backpack tags from the office. If you prefer to park and pick up your child, please enter the building through the cafeteria doors for parent pickup with your photo ID.  If you arrive after 3:15 pm to pick up your student, you will be directed to the cafeteria for parent pickup.  These procedures are in place to ensure the safety and security of all students.  Thank you for cooperating with our staff members during dismissal.

We welcome parents and grandparents for lunch with your students.  If you are coming for lunch with your child, please check in with the office and show your photo ID.  Then, find your child’s class table.  We have designated the end of each classroom table as the “visiting parent section” this year.  Parents are encouraged to eat with their child at this special section of the classroom table.  Our lunch monitors can help you find your child’s lunch table as needed.

If you have a student who attends Lee Hill Elementary, you are already a member of our PTO!  Please consider joining us for our first meeting on Monday, August 19th at 6:00 pm at LHES.  We welcome you to take part in planning for the upcoming school year!

Possible Bus Delays - It is important to note that during the first weeks of school there may be delays as children are learning which bus to get on at the school and we are double checking rosters before beginning the afternoon bus run to ensure all students are on the correct bus.
