Recognitions and Rewards

  • Positive Recognition

Teachers and staff at Robert E Lee provide positive recognition for students through classroom and whole school incentive programs.
  • Weekly/Daily Recognition

This list is not meant to be all-inclusive or to exclude other various ways of recognizing students for making positive choices and displaying appropriate behavior.

Perfect Attendance –  At the end of each week, one student will be selected from each grade level for perfect attendance (this includes NO tardies or early dismissals for the week). Students will be recognized over the loudspeaker to come to the office to get a prize.

Student of the Week – Teachers can nominate students who show excellence in displaying positive behaviors and meet our school’s high expectations. Each week, one student from  each grade level will be selected by administration. These students will be recognized over the announcements, receive a prize from the treasure box, and have their picture taken for the Student of the Week bulletin board.

Treasure Cards - Every faculty member will have Treasure Cards that they can give to students anytime they are engaged in positive behaviors. When students receive a treasure card, they come to the office to pick a prize out of the treasure box and receive one-to-one praise and recognition from an administrator.

Mustang Magic Table--The PTA and teachers have designated a special table in the cafeteria where students who are displaying appropriate behaviors may sit if recognized by a monitor. The appropriate behaviors being recognized are ONLY those expected in the cafeteria. This table is a special privilege, then, for students displaying positive expected behaviors in the cafeteria only.
  • Nine Week Awards

On “Report Card Day” at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nine weeks, and at the end of the school year (except KG and 5th grade, see below), grade levels will gather in the gym for awards presentations and celebrations. The following awards will be presented by school administration. Classroom awards may be presented at the teacher’s discretion in separate ceremonies.

Perfect Attendance Certificates – These awards will be given to students who have attended school each day and have no more than 1 tardy OR early dismissal. This
will include perfect-attendance for the whole year at the end of year assembly.

Mustang Magic Award—Two students per homeroom (a boy and a girl) will be recognized for displaying and embracing the qualities of Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness as defined by our PBIS program to improve student behavior and attitude in school. Teachers will submit these names for recognition at the close of each nine weeks.

  • Special End of the Year Awards for Kindergarten and 5th Grade

In addition to the awards listed above, Kindergarten and 5th grade students will receive end of year awards at evening concert/awards
assemblies as noted on the school calendar.

All KG students will receive teacher-generated awards so that each child gets something in addition to the school-wide recognition as indicated above.

    Presidential Educational Awards:

Fifth Grade only—These special awards have pre-determined criteria and include student achievement over multiple years in most cases.
