Eric Wright Ed. D.

Dr. Wright calls the Fredericksburg area his home.  He grew up in a military household but landed in Spotsylvania county during high school.  He is honored to be serving in his first year as the principal at FMS.  This will be his 12th year as an administrator, six of which were spent as an assistant principal and administrative intern at Riverbend High School, four years as an assistant principal at Chancellor Middle School and one year as an assistant principal at King George Middle School.  He earned his Bachelor's degree from Liberty University in Biology, and Master’s and Doctorate (Ed.D) degrees from VCU in Educational Leadership.  His wife and five daughters reside in Spotsylvania county, two of which attend Spotsylvania County Public Schools.

As an educational leader, he prides himself in developing relationships.  He values his relationships with students, faculty, staff and the community.  He understands that before students care about what we teach, they need to know how much we care.  Building relationships is a key to meaningful learning.   As an educational leader, he spends time talking with students about making good decisions and what good decisions look like in the classroom, halls and school grounds in the hopes of pointing them to a successful future in high school and beyond. He believes that great leaders utilize the collective power of a team and is committed to creating a common vision around a set core of beliefs created by the school community.  He is looking forward to working with the community at Freedom Middle.
