Mr. Kelly Guempel, Principal

Mr. Guempel is entering his 26th year as an educator, he has served 11 of those years as a classroom teacher and the past 15 as an administrator.   During his eleven years as a teacher, he also served as a head varsity wrestling, football, baseball and strength coach. Mr. Guempel brings a passion for working with students, teachers, and parents to make the high school years the very best experience for all involved.   His wife, Cheri, served as a principal in Henrico County for 9 years before recently moving on to central office administration. Together, they have 3 adult children, Emma (VT-g17), Bishop (GMU-g19) and Jake (UMW).

Mrs. Veronica Jackson, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Jackson brings 14 years of teaching experience and 10 years of experience in the private sector to Spotsylvania HS.  She has spent the last year at Courtland working as the Administrative Intern/Assistant Principal. She earned an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Leadership and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership all from Liberty University. She welcomes the opportunity to serve the students, teachers, and the Spotsylvania community while learning and growing as an administrator. As she is excited to enter her third year with Spotsylvania County, she hopes to contribute her talents and share her energetic spirit to the many successes that Spotsy High has to offer.

Mr. Robert Marchetti, Assistant Principal

Mr. Marchetti has been a resident of Spotsylvania County since 2001 when he started working at Chancellor High School as a Social Studies teacher. He has his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Shippensburg University and a Masters of Educational Leadership from University for Mary Washington. He has taught at Chancellor High School and been an Assistant Principal at King George High School in King George County and at Massaponax High School.

Mr. Abed

Mr. Abed has been an Assistant Principal in Spotsylvania County since 2015. He served three years as an Assistant Principal at the Spotsylvania Career & Technical Center before coming to Spotsylvania High School.  Mr. Abed is a native of Spotsylvania County attending Livingston Elementary, John J. Wright Middle School and graduating from Spotsylvania High School. Mr. Abed is a former high school Marketing Teacher and DECA Advisor. He has called Spotsylvania County his home all his life and is dedicated to helping student achieving their goals and becoming successful contributors to the community. He is most excited about being back home at Spotsylvania High School and serving the school and community that helped educate and mold him into the person he is today.

Ms. Hart is in her 25th year in education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from the State University of New York College at Fredonia and her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. She began her teaching career at King George High School where she taught math for 6 years. She then came to Spotsylvania County and Courtland High School. She taught math there for 4 years and coached swimming. Ms. Hart left Courtland to join the administrative team at Spotsylvania High School in 2006 where she serves as the Instructional Coordinator and has also coached swimming. She resides in Spotsylvania County.

Mrs. Rachel Bentley-Goode, Guidance Director

Mrs. Bentley-Goode grew up in a large family, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is one of ten children and has a sibling with a developmental disability.  That is where her love for working with students started. After graduating from high school, she attended Utah State University then moved to California to start her teaching career.  She spent 10 years teaching PE at the middle and high school level and as a high school counselor.  During that time she earned her Masters degree at Cal State Fullerton in School Counseling and Marriage Family Therapy. In 2005, her family moved to Utah where she worked five years in a junior high school as the director of counseling. Since arriving in Virginia, she worked for five years as the Director of Counseling at Battlefield Middle School.  Currently, she is the Director of Counseling at Spotsylvania high school. Her goal as a director of counseling is to help prepare students to become productive citizens of society.

Mr. William Swink, Activities Director

Mr. Swink is a native of Connellsville, Pennsylvania and is in his 24th of education in Virginia. The past 19 years he has been a business and marking teacher at North Stafford and Colonial Forge High Schools. During his 23 years in Virginia public education Mr. Swink has coached football, wrestling, and track and has served as an assistant athletic director and chairman for the Virginia Wrestling Association. In April of 2016 he was inducted into the Virginia Chapter or the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and in August of 2015 was named USA Wrestling’s National Chairperson of the Year. Mr. Swink resides with his family in Spotsylvania County.
