Mr. Thomas Eichenberg, Principal
It is a pleasure to be the principal at Parkside Elementary School. This is my thirteenth year serving the students and families of Parkside Elementary School. I was fortunate to be the administrator who opened this building in 2001 for its first year of operation.
I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Science degree and began teaching in Northern Indiana. My Masters degree and Administrative Licensure was obtained from Indiana University. I have worked at schools in Indiana and Virginia at all levels: elementary, middle, and high.
While working for the Spotsylvania County Schools, I have been the principal at Salem Elementary School and at Parkside Elementary School. My wife Janet, is an English teacher at Post Oak Middle School within our school division. I have two adult daughters and a son-in-law. Alyssa and Andrew live in Spotsylvania, and my younger daughter Megan, lives in Arlington, Virginia.
I enjoy hockey and am a big Washington Capitals fan. Spending time with my family, reading, and gardening are also pastimes.
I look forward to getting to work with your family. Please contact me if you have suggestions, questions, or comments regarding Parkside Elementary School. Have a great year!
Mrs. Misty Kelley, Assistant Principal
I am thrilled to be a part of the team of excellent teachers and staff members here at Parkside Elementary School. As your Assistant Principal, I’m excited to partner with you to Build A Better World for our students, staff and community. I am passionate about problem-based learning and STEM and I’m excited to help create learning opportunities for students that are engaging, real-world, and memorable. Through our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program, I am committed to maintaining a safe and positive school environment where children can focus on the job of learning.
My teaching career began in 2004 in Spotsylvania County as a Special Education teacher at Berkeley Elementary. I’ve also had the privilege to work with students at John J. Wright Alternative Middle & High, and as an Administrator at Robert E. Lee Elementary. I was born and raised in southwest West Virginia where I attended Marshall University and later attended the University of Cincinnati for my Master’s in Administration and Supervision. After moving to Virginia in 2002, I earned my teaching endorsement in Special Education from the University of Mary Washington.
Outside of school, my family keeps me busy with soccer, swim and fun. I love reading and I always have a book suggestion to offer if you need some inspiration! My husband, Shawn, is a teacher in the Commonwealth Governor’s School at Spotsylvania High School. My daughter, Gracen, is in 8th Grade at Caroline Middle School and my son, Brycen, is in 4th Grade at Lewis and Clark Elementary in Caroline County. My family is my greatest blessing that I cherish every day.
My personal goal this school year is for Every Student to be Excellent Every Day – No Excuses! Please contact me if you’d like to discuss how I can help your child have an excellent school experience. I look forward to working with and for the Parkside Community.
