Mr. Brian Dunleavy - Assistant Principal

Greetings Panthers,

I am excited to join the Ponax family as an Assistant Principal.  I previously have served as an Assistant Principal in Manassas City, as a Dean in Loudoun County, and a long time Social Science teacher in Prince William County.  I look forward to working with the whole school community to engage students, parents, faculty, and staff to continuously work towards excellence at Ponax.

I have 12 years of experience in education, with 10 of those being at the high school level, teaching World History, US/VA History, AP US History, AP World History, and AP Economics.  I hold 3 degrees from George Mason University, including being there my senior year for the great Final 4 run. I hold a Bachelors in History, a Master’s in Education – Curriculum and Instruction, and another Master’s in Education Leadership.

I live with my wife, daughter, and 2 dogs in the Fredericksburg area, after moving down from Northern Virginia.  Being a former baseball collegiate student-athlete, I love going to athletic events and cheering on my hometown teams including the Astros and Texans, and of course the GMU Patriots.  Additionally, my family loves cultural events and agrotourism and we look forward to exploring all the Fredericksburg area has to offer.

I am excited for the amazing year coming up and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at 540-710-0419 or email at bdunleavy@spotsylvania.k12.va.us. Follow me on twitter @BrianDunleavy16.
