Mrs. Nicole Ochs

Greetings Spotswood Families and Friends,

I am proud to serve as your principal for the 2020-21 school year! This is my second year at Spotswood as the principal and my 17th year in education. I hold a Virginia license in administration, elementary education, and ESOL. I was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. As a military spouse, I have had educational experiences around the country in Missouri, North Carolina, California, and most recently Virginia. My family and I have lived in Virginia since 2014 and for five years I was an assistant principal for Stafford County Schools before moving to Spotsylvania county. I have three daughters who all attend Spotsylvania County Schools.

The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown us some curveballs but be assured that the safety of our school community remains a priority as does a quality education for each and every child we serve. This requires us to think critically, work collaboratively, and have clear communication with one another. We look forward to working together with our families to create a meaningful educational experience for all. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email at nochs@spotsylvania.k12.va.us.  I look forward to partnering with you this school year.

Nicole Ochs, Principal

I’m excited to be starting my 8th year at Spotswood and 16th in Spotsylvania County Schools.  We had a wonderfully busy summer with our Power Scholars program, summer home visits, and meeting new faces at Popsicles on the Playground.  I hope that all of you are as excited to return to school as I am.

While I am lucky to know many of our Spotswood families I’d like to share a little for those new to Spotswood.  I was born in Massachusetts, graduated from Salem State College and the University of Massachusetts Lowell, then moved to teach in Florida. Over my twelve years in Florida, I was lucky to both coach and teach so many wonderful students but after becoming a mom to my two amazing daughters I decided to move closer to family and found my forever home in Virginia.

I look forward to continuing the positive relationships we have built over the years.  I hope that I can be a part of helping your child develop a love of learning.
