Mr. Brian Bartoszek

I am very passionate about education and have been dedicated to  the field in Spotsylvania County for my entire thirteen year career.  As a father of three, who will eventually attend Ni River, I am both personally and professionally vested in the success of our school.  I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and celebrating their successes both small and large.  I will encourage them daily, help them feel valued and ensure they have a special place in our school community.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the vision of Ni River Middle School to inspire all students to soar and succeed through their educational journey by providing them with the skills to be dynamic, contributing leaders.  A top priority is to ensure that every student receives the most well rounded education possible.  This means outstanding and engaging instruction from high quality teachers as well as extracurricular opportunities that enable students to develop character and cultivate their passions.  Student involvement in school activities beyond the traditional course load increases their connection with the school and fosters a positive sense of belonging.

Most importantly, an excellent education is not possible without the great collaboration of students, parents and staff. I recognize the importance a strong home-school connection can have on student success.  Parents are every child's first teacher and I believe that by working together we can make sure your child's social, emotional and academic needs are met.  Your involvement in your child's education at Ni River Middle School will help them achieve greater success and have a positive outlook on school.

I am truly excited to work with Ni River to help each student meet their goals and have a successful school year.

I am fully vested in the education Spotsylvania County offers our children. My daughter is a  Chancellor High School graduate and currently attends college. My son is a junior at CHHS, and I graduated from Courtland High School. As an employee of  Spotsylvania County Schools, I have had the opportunity to spend fifteen years in the classroom enhancing the learning of middle school students, and nine years working with teachers as an Instructional Coach/ITRT.  I believe the students of SCPS deserve the best education possible to prepare them for a successful future.

I am very excited to be a part of the Falcon Family and look forward to all we will accomplish together!

Ms. Bernadette Nolan

Ms. Bernadette Nolan began her school counseling career in 2001 after earning a Master of Education Degree in Counseling and Development from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA in May of 2001. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology/Management Psychology from Averette College in Danville, VA in June 1985 and has always enjoyed working with children and families.

While earning her graduate degree, she was employed as a Case Manager with the Department of Family Services in the Foster Care & Adoption Division for the County of Fairfax, VA. Since coming to Spotsylvania County in 2001, she has been working with our Ni River Middle School families except for one year back in 2009 - 2010 when Ms. Nolan was a high school counselor at Massaponax High School. She feels the middle school years of a child's development are the most exciting years based on the rapid changes in their emotional and social growth and she continues to learn and grow from her experiences while working with our students and their families.
