Anti-Bullying & Character Programs
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is committed to providing safe schools for all students. All schools promote anti-bullying and provide character programs. These initiatives include but are not limited to: anti-bullying assemblies, awareness and reporting practices, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, Olweus Bullying-Prevention program, school counselor classroom lessons, Great Kindness Challenge, Mix it Up Day, Steps to Respect for 3-5, Kelso Choices and Mind Up K-2, conflict resolution skills, CORE Essential Values program, Code of Conduct review meetings, Sheriff's Office presentations, guest speakers, BINT (Bullying Is Not Tolerated) program, and Stand Up, Speak Out program.Families are encouraged visit the the following resources to help us support safe learning environments for all students.
- PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center offers information and resources for students and families about feeling safe at school. A portion of their site specifically addresses how elementary-aged children can stand against bullying at school.
- StopBullying.gov teaches kids how to identify bullying and how to stand up to it safely.
- Common Sense Media offers resources that help parents evaluate the safety of various technologies. They review movies, tv shows, apps, and other technologies that students use and make recommendations about online safety.
- Connect Safely offers information about social media safety and practices that everyone should know--both parents and students.
