The Orff Ensemble is a small group of 4th and 5th grade students who play recorders, xylophones and marimbas together. The group is based on the teachings of the composer Carl Orff who created a style of teaching in which children learn by emulating every day play. Songs are taken from African marimba writers, local composers and Mr. Radford’s own compositions. Students must audition for the group in the beginning of the year. The group performs in winter and spring concerts as well as the Culture al La Carte festival on the first Saturday in March. We have also been seen at retirement homes and school board meetings.
