Principal's Message

  • Dear Knight Nation,

Welcome to Spotsylvania High School (SHS), Home of the Knights. My name is Dr. Amanda Hester, the principal at SHS. I am very excited for the 2018-2019 school year. Spotsylvania High School’s biggest strength is the people who make up the school and community. The caring nature and instructional strength of the staff, enthusiasm of the students, and the support of the community will contribute to the success of the school and its students.

As part of the support system that contributes to our student success in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities, parents are encouraged to take an active role in the process. One way of being up-to- date with current and accurate information is through the daily school newsletter, Knights News. Research reveals that students with parents who are involved in their education are more likely to : attend school regularly, earn high grades, test scores, enroll in higher level courses, and graduate on time and entering a post-secondary program. One excellent way of being a part of your child’s education is by joining the PTSO. Please sign up by completing the enclosed form and returning it to the main office. I encourage all parents to be a part of this organization.

The Knights News includes information that will allow you to be aware of important events taking place at SHS. Students will report to their assigned homerooms on the first day of school to receive their course schedules, emergency medical forms, and other important documents. Parents/guardians are asked to read, sign, and return all the required forms. Homeroom assignments will be posted in the main hallway approximately one week prior to school starting.

I am looking forward to a great school year and getting to know all the students and community! Follow me on Twitter @SpotsyPrincipal and Instagram @spotsyprincipal to stay current with information and updates, as well.

It’s a great day to be a Knight!

    Dr. Amanda Hester
