Parents - Before you schedule that next dentist appointment or plan a vacation, please check out the May SOL Schedule posted on our school website http://www.spotsylvania.k12.va.us/nrms1/ for grades 6-8! Thank you in advance for avoiding scheduling conflicts on your child's scheduled testing days.

Attention Parents of Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders:

Is your child interested in enrolling in the Spotsylvania County Middle School Summer Enrichment Program? Two 1 week sessions are offered at $100.00/session. Registration Now Open for 2013 Summer School Programs

Summer school programs are supported by dedicated staff and are targeted to meet the diverse needs of our students and community. Each educational opportunity provided is designed to actively engage students to maximize student success. There are awide ranging program offerings including enrichment opportunities, credit recovery for high school students, and instructional intervention/remediation.

Summer AP Bridge Program

Attention rising AP parents and students. Riverbend High School will be offering an enrichment program to prepare students for the rigor of an AP class. Between August 19 through August 22, students will spend four mornings (or afternoons) with certified teachers exploring skills needed to be successful in an AP class. You will be mailed a brochure and letter regarding this program. To ensure your spot in this program, tear off the attached registration and send it to Riverbend High School with a check made out to RHS for $40 by July 15. Athletic Physical Night at Spotsylvania Middle School, Tuesday, May 21 from 6pm-9pm, $15.00 Please download flyer here!

After School Help:

Does your child have missing work that needs to be completed? Does your child need assistance from a teacher to help him/her complete homework? Then ASC may be the answer for you! ASC (After- School Club) will began meeting on Monday, October 29th from 3-4. ASC is designed to provide additional support to students who are missing work or need assistance with homework. Simply send a note with your child on Monday morning giving him/her permission to stay after-school and then pick your child up promptly at 4:00 in front of the school. Teacher Appreciation Month Of May…IS HERE!

Friday, May 31^st “Sweet Tooth & Basket Drawing” Looking for donated baked goods & small bottled waters delivered by 10 am at the front kiosk. Also, need volunteers to staff 11:00 am-2:00 pm.
Teacher’s Draw for Baskets. We are dividing the donations by grade level. Please drop your items off at the front kiosk by May 23rd and label PTA.

6^th Grade

· “Spa and Beauty” Basket - bubble bath, bath salts, lotions, oils, wine glasses, exfoliating stone, manicure set, clear nail polish, nail polish remover, cotton balls, candles, soothing music, bath pillow, big fluffy robe, gift certificate to Ulta or Bath & Body Works, pedicure, manicure, facial, etc....

· “Summer Fun Basket” suntan lotions, goggles, beach towels, water bottles, etc.

· Care for Your Car” Basket – Glass Cleaner wipes, Armor All wipes, Armor all spray (for tires), gift certificate at a local full service car wash, air freshener, sponges, chamois cloth, wax, spray nozzle, extra-large bucket, etc.

7^th Grade

· “Green Thumb Gardening” Basket gardening supplies, seeds, etc.

· “Chocoholics Unite” Basket - Need we say more? Anything and everything chocolate, hot chocolate mix, gourmet chocolate, truffles, and dark choc. white choc., milk choc., chocolate covered fruits, pretzels & nuts, etc.......

· “Best of Fredericksburg Basket” gift cards from local retailers in the area

8^th Grade

· “Campfire Basket” - camping supplies such as flashlights, canteens, cookware, whistles, compass, bug spray, battery-powered radio, snacks, items to make smores, campfire coffeepot, bug-catcher, sleeping bags, ghost story book, duffle bag, anti-bacterial soap, etc. Gift certificate to Gander Mountain or Sports Authority, etc......

· “Wine Basket” – openers, glasses, accessories, gift cards to Total Wine, etc.....

· “Gone Fishing” Basket – things a fisherman might appreciate such as lures, bait, hooks, bobbers, net, fishing line, fishing pole, fishing hat, tackle box, gift certificate to Bass Pro Shop or Gander Mountain, etc.

Please do not allow your child to bring scented body sprays, perfumes and body lotions to school. The use of these products can cause students and teachers to have severe allergic reactions and asthma attacks. Unscented body lotion ONLY is allowed in school. PE teachers have reiterated expectations regarding fragrances with their students. Thank you for your help and cooperation!
