Dr. Shelley K. Redinger, Superintendent


Dr. Shelley K. Redinger has 21 years of experience in public school education.  Dr. Redinger currently serves as the Superintendent for Spotsylvania County Schools.  Previously she served as the superintendent of Oregon Trail School District where through her leadership passed a $114.9 million bond that enabled the construction of a new high school and provided facility upgrades throughout the district.  Also during her tenure, she helped put in place programs that significantly improved mathematics and reading assessment scores. 

Prior to becoming a superintendent, her educational experiences included six years as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for Richland School District in Washington, elementary principal and assistant principal, and elementary and middle school teacher. 

Dr. Redinger has earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Education degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Education degree in Education from Washington State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Washington State University.  

Throughout her career, Dr. Redinger has been a member of local, state, and regional education organizations and several community groups.  Among her honors, Dr. Redinger has been awarded the Phi Delta Kapa (PDK) International Emerging Leader, Washington State Curriculum Leadership Award, and the Washington Library Media Association Supervisor of the Year. 

Her husband Darin is a mechanical engineer and her son Logan is a student of Spotsylvania County Schools.  She and her family are big sports fans and they will go to just about any sporting event.  In addition, Dr. Redinger enjoys attending a variety of school functions such as sporting events, art shows, family nights, band concerts, and plays.
